The Minnesota Noices

Cider and a *Guinness

Carole invited me for a drive out to the orchard and renovated farm house belonging to transplants Simon and Sarah. Having heard lots about the orchard, I was eager to visit and catch up with Sarah (of Capellagården textiles fame). Karine, another French expat also made the journey from Kristianstad so we had many hands to help with making lunch, picking apples and pears, juicing and bottling. We were quite lucky with the weather and managed to dodge most of the rain. The pizza oven lived up to it’s reputation and we paused to fika and lunch at intervals. Plans are underway to return for more picking and cider making.

My regular Swedish lessons are in a lecture hall in a modern building near the canals and train station in Malmö. The amenities are great; lots of bathrooms, study spaces, conversation nooks, comfy seating and even a cafe. My pronunciation classes usually meets in another building which also holds the University library. Once aboard the train headed to Malmö, I usually enjoy the change of scenery! Today I took advantage of the long lower level platforms of the train station and did my daily walk sheltered from the rain.

Construction of the new conservatory is underway at the botanic garden in Lund, but there are still several areas open to the public. I was happy to see that much of the original building(s) will be restored.

Bryant was in Älmhult (see above plant-based meatball pj photo) for the annual IKEA event and participated in * a Guinness world record pyjama party. It was a long and rather uncomfortable day but they managed to keep everyone together, within the rules, for a long enough time to be certified as the new record holders!

The crew out in Gotland was able to catch some northern lights!

This photo was taken by her friend who brought an old-school camera. Impressive! Northern Lights have been visible to the naked eye (though not as great as in MN, apparently!) and they’ve had fun aurora chasing. The class made a what’s app group just for posting updates so maybe we’ll get to see more!
