The Minnesota Noices

November

Shorter days but not slowing down…Bryant completed the deal on a house for short term rental during a whirlwind 22 hour visit to MN. I’ll be going there soon to get it ready for Minnēstay and see friends and family over Thanksgiving. Since the rest of the family can’t go, we hosted an early Thanksgiving/ Father’s Day at our place. The Gouldeks are regulars in our social circle and we had a nice afternoon together, eating most of our favorite Thanksgiving foods, American style as much as possible. I added lingon to the cranberry fluff, but that was just for fun as I was able to get cranberries. I suspect lingon would work in place of cranberries. Tasting them side by side I realized they are essentially the same. After dinner the gamers played while the moms headed out for a walk. We saw the first Domherre, a very large male bullfinch, of the season.

Earlier in the week I’d escorted our eldest to Malmö University to scout out the campus, find the relevant sites, and ask a few questions about ID etc. It’s a pleasant walk for central station and quite scenic. We passed the blue boat in the canal and she said she’d been to a party on the boat. I asked her what that was for and she said she couldn’t remember. It was “a while ago”. I let it go 🙂

She started Introduction to International Law on Friday and passed the exam for her LU online Swedish course. She might be able to study the next level of Swedish on campus in Lund!

Nori gets up to all kinds of mischief. We thought she wasn’t interested in countertops but it now seems that she simply wasn’t comfortable jumping that high as a kitten. Now that she’s grown, she finds it’s no problem to get almost anywhere. And does so.

Four of us in the cooking club have November birthdays so we had a party at my place. Fourteen people in our kitchen was probably the max, but it worked out quite well. We ate traditional Swedish birthday cake, the Princesstårta, along with pumpkin bars, apple cider caramels, and more! The birthday girls received lots of gifts and goodies as well.
